Creating for a Cause

Apologies for the radio silence this week. There’s just been…stuff. Going on. But it’s ok. πŸ™‚

I wanted to share this awesome new project I’ve joined. It’s a Mystery Quilt, designed and organized by Heather Spence. The goal is to raise some money for this little guy.

Jack

You can also see the Facebook page his family has created here.

This is the third mystery quilt Heather has created to help cancer patients and their families. Inspired by her own mother’s battle against leukemia, she’s extended her talents to more people and invited us to contribute as well. The first part of the pattern for this quilt will be sent out on October 5. There is a Facebook page for discussion, and the Fat Quarter Shop has generously offered a 20% discount code to all mystery quilters (code given after sign-up). Even if you’re fairly new to quilting it sounds like this should be a great project as Heather is sending out both a beginner and more advanced version. πŸ™‚

A finished quilt from the “Dan’s Climb” pattern, one of the previous mystery quilts.

You can sign up through Heather’s Etsy. $10 of the $15 signup fee goes directly to Jack’s family, and the other covers her printing/editing/assistant costs.

And the Spring 2012 mystery quilt.

$15 isn’t much, especially when you get a beautiful quilt out of it. πŸ˜€ I would love to hear if any of my readers decide to join in. Even if making the quilt isn’t in the books for you right now, spread the word. πŸ™‚

I’ve picked my fabrics and am eagerly awaiting October 5 (at which time I’ll be in the middle of moving and running a 5K the next day, but those are small details, right?). I’ll be updating on my progress here and there, and you can see my fabrics here.
